How do I download a map in a large format

If not, you probably need to explain what you mean by a "map". do you mean a file that you can print, something that a phone or a satnav will understand, or something else?

You could try MapOSMatic?

Or you can download the data files directly and use software like Mapertive to generate an image in your own style.
