I used to map in medium population area then I moved to Sahara. The roads are very long and POI are very far from each other and spread over very large area.

I find it not practical to zoom out multiple time then zoom in again to move to the next POI.

Could iD editor have a mini map? So I can move quickly to the next just by clicking on the mini map which let move to the location I want with the same zoom.(Like in strategic games)

If that is kind of wish feature, is it possible to have bookmarks? So I can keep some reference points.

Good news, we just added a minimap to iD! You can type '/' to make it appear. Also you can pan and zoom on the minimap to jump the main map to new location.

you can ask for new iD features there: https://github.com/openstreetmap/iD/issues?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Aissue+label%3Aenhancement (note that this needs a login with a github.com account – an external company)

Note that you can use the bookmark feature of your browser to save locations (also with the editing mode already opened). However, that seems not to help much if you do not want to leave iD (keep one editing session).

In case you consider to use other OSM editors: currently JOSM does not have a bookmark feature, too.
