I know how to load images (jpg) into JOSM using a .gpx and the DTG (Date-Time-Group) but how do you do it if you don't have a *.gpx. Information: I have bought a Garmin Virb elite which is also an excellent tool for data collection while surveying. In the video mode it generates a .gpx but as far as I understand it, it does not generate a .gpx in the other modes available (i.e. single shot, 2 5 and 10 second and burst modes). So if you are collecting data for e.g. Mapillary in the 2-second mode a *.jpg image is taken every 2 seconds. It therefore generates a great deal of geo-related information that could be very useful for OSM. But I don't know how to do it: Help! asked 30 Apr '15, 16:27 dcp edited 30 Apr '15, 16:48 aseerel4c26 ♦ |

Images that already contain location imformation can simply be opened in JOSM without all the extra fuss. answered 30 Apr '15, 17:15 SimonPoole ♦ |
I have just found out how to to it.
This is not the best answer: Ignore it and take SimonPoole's answer answered 30 Apr '15, 16:50 dcp edited 30 Apr '15, 17:35 @dcp Hope you don't mind - I set your answer to "accepted". (30 Apr '15, 17:06) SomeoneElse ♦ via the "imagery menu"? Really (I cannot find a relevant entry there)? Or do you mean in the context menu (right click) of the dummy gpx layer? Doesn't this also work with a new, empty (via "file" menu) data layer which then is converted into gpx? (30 Apr '15, 17:07) aseerel4c26 ♦ |
@SimonPoole: Indeed, I do not need all those steps from dcp. I just have tried it and opened a georeferenced (EXIF) JPEG photo via File > Open in a freshly started JOSM. I've taken the liberty to convert your comment into an answer.
Does this work for you too, @dcp? Then please accept this answer instead.
works great, any idea how to place an new node exactly at the position of the image? And maybe do this for multiple images at once?
