Very large hospitals can be made up of several buildings that span a wide area and have multiple entrances. What I want to know is where i should place the address node and how to tag different entrances/buildings (such as emergency room, etc)

In general map an extensive hospital campus as an area. You may put the address on the area providing most facilities within the hospital share that address (fairly usual in the UK). Additional addresses can be added on things which do not share the main address (for instance university departments in a teaching hospital, or staff housing).

Entrances can be added using the entrance tag. It is worth naming these according to hospital signage (my local paper recently featured an article about staff getting lost within the hospital) and access. Most entrances will be wheelchair accessible, but not all in older buildings, and some entrances might not be convenient for people with restricted mobility. Adding any information about these factors can be useful.
