Hi, I know that you can add several information to an information point (like for example opening hours or website of a restaurant)

But how can I as a normal user find these information on OSM, if I want to know some more about a POI (restaurant or anything else)? I mean, in Google Maps you only click on the name of a POI and you get more information and links. How is it done in OSM?

Thanks in advance, Nils.

Let's imagine you've got something you want to look at, like here:

www.openstreetmap.org/#map=19/53.15148/-1.47073

  1. Click the question mark at the right.
  2. Click near the thing you're interested in.
  3. A list of features near your click appears at the left - click the one that you want.

That gets you to here, which in this case includes opening hours.

Thanks! I've been using the map for ages and never realised that this feature existed. There is always something new to learn in OSM.

@NZGraham: the "?" feature is existing since November 2014. Before that date (and still) you can use the "data layer" function of the openstreetmap.org page. See https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Browsing

There are also projects that try to implement this. For example,http://www.openlinkmap.org will make POIs that have extra information clickable, and for example show you wether a a place is open right now.
