Is there a standard method for adding a store number to a POI? For instance, each Home Depot store has a unique number tied to it. I've been simply tagging each POI as name="Home Depot" because I don't think it would be appropriate to tag it name="Home Depot #1234".

Not adding the shop number to the name was certainly the right decision.

Many people use the generic ref tag for different kinds of numbering. If you want to go over the top you can invent a ref:home_depot tag (just in case someone later wants to add, say, a ref: fire_department or a ref:irs to the thing as well...). Details on the wiki.

That's a very good question and one that I've been curious about myself. I found this website on the wiki to explain it: ref:shop:num.
