There’s a barrier on top of an Ecoduct, a row of stubs. Should I use barrier=stub(s) just as barrier=log, the same wooden material ?

It's unclear what you're referring to. Stubs of what? It would be helpful if you could add an image of what they look like.

Alester, a stub is the connection between the roots and the log of a tree. It’s a big ugly part of the tree that’s hardly usable or just for chips. Although a walnut stub seems to be a good source for veneer or plywood.

@Hendrikklass standard english for what you describe is a tree stump. They exist for the safety of the tree feller (& to avoid damaging his tools).

SK53, too bad IMHO theres no standard English. For native speakers maybay the Oxford branche, there several different branches such as double dutch, for non native speakers.

I went for …

  • barrier=tree_stump
  • height=0.42
  • material=wood
  • width might be a good addition, especially if it is very wide

… when I tagged such an unusual barrier the last time. With "tree stump" (instead of "stub") it is likely more clear that it is a part of a tree than if you use "stub".

… If you would use it as a node on a normal way I think tags which show who/what can pass would be good. Maybe this as an default override (if there are really no legal restrictions): access=yes maxwidth=1.5 see barrier documentation. In principle I think those legal access tags are often not good for barriers (because those are not legal restrictions) and physical (e.g. maxwidth:physical) ones should be used instead, but the :physical ones are used very seldom and not (yet) documented on that barrier page.
