How do you create a place on a nook color? Is the mobile site the same as the desktop site?

If you can install Android apps (needs a special firmware version / root if I read the Wikipedia article correctly), an alternative to the editors on the website are Android editing apps (Vespucci is most popular). Also see http://learnosm.org/en/mobile-mapping/

Be aware that those apps may not be very newbie friendly – take care if you upload/save your changes to the server.

I suspect if the questioner was capable of safely rooting their device, they wouldn't be asking this question. They probably also wouldn't own a Nook Color.

@Jonatahn Bennett: could be, yes. However, my initial condition is easy to answer, isn't it? If the answer is "no", then they can forget get rest. Also there could be people available for assistance.

The mobile "site" (in general) the same as the desktop "site", in that the only difference is which stylesheet is used. However, to edit the map you need a device which is capable of running Flash apps (Potlatch 2), or fairly advanced JavaScript (iD). It's unclear whether the Nook Color, as both an older, and locked-down device, has either of those.

Instead of editing the map directly on the device, you could try adding Notes to OSM, and using these to edit the map on another device later. This may or may not work, depending on the JS support in the Nook Color's browser.

Since the Nook Color has now also been discontinued, you are probably going to struggle to find anyone who can help you with this, since the target group (Nook Color owners) is already small and isn't going to get any bigger.
