I have found several items with regard to charging stations for EV or E-bike. Most with a link to http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:amenity%3Dcharging_station (Link to Wiki) However I don't see a possibility to use these tags as such in iD and even in Potlatch 2 I get the warning that the tag is not recognised/UNKNOWN.

You can use "tags" in both, iD and Potlatch. See the last section of https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tags . Regarding "Is the wiki out of date?" and "not recognised/UNKNOWN": see the other question tags discrepancy: map features vs. editor vs. QA tools (OSM Inspector). Then it should be clear to you. In short: likely you will want just to use the tags even if the editor says it is "unknown" because it is just the editor saying this. answered 04 Dec '14, 19:40 aseerel4c26 ♦ |
In iD, just press the "+" under the all tags. section. You might have to click the little triangle first to expand that section. There are so many possible tags in OSM, that the editors only offer a selection, typically the most popular ones. As those charging stations become more important, I expect that the editors will include it in the near future. answered 04 Dec '14, 19:42 escada 2
So just type the tag as in the wiki although it is not in the standard list of iD

KiloKilo, welcome youre in P2 and (ID) always able to ad any item. Click and ad a description in the advanced menu. In this case please read this as well, http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:amenity%3Dcharging_station. happy mapping and enjoy adding the right tags. answered 04 Dec '14, 16:48 Hendrikklaas 1
Thank you for your reply. The link is the same I mention. Yet I do not see an advanced menu in iD. In P2 the tags are as in the Wiki yet if you switch to simple it indicates UNKNOWN/Not Recognised
