I have read and reread the Map Features instructions on Relation:Route:Hiking and can see no valid requirement (i.e. mandatory) for the role attribute: In fact the general route instructions state clearly that the role attribute is either "Zero or more" for other route types but the specific hiking instructions does not mention the role requirement at all. So, what am I missing? Addition: The relation number is 4199105 Some screenshots: relation edit in JOSM, map in JOSM, and this is the lonvia interpretation. so everything looks OK. I still don't know if I am missing something, or if the Map features instructions are inadequate or if the JOSM validator is wrong: IMHO if it is not me missing something then I think that either the instructions should be changed or the validator corrected. asked 16 Nov '14, 08:28 dcp aseerel4c26 ♦ |
Hi, the validator in JOSM contains errors itself. I asked a similar question and User SomeOneElse (Andy) found the bug in the software. I then submitted a "ticket" and the programmers kindly corrected that bug. If you read the answers to my question you can see how it was done. In the meantime:

It seems to me that I (or anyone who understands the problem better than I) should post a ticket. Not doing so will continue to confuse other contributors and waste their time as well!.

Thank you for bringing this up. When you create a JOSM bug report, would you please link it here, so that others can check whether this information is still up to date.

can you plz. also add an screenshot of the route edit window, so we can see how you modeled the route?
Look here for the analysis of your relation : http://ra.osmsurround.org/analyzeRelation?relationId=4199105&_noCache=on
It seems Ok, so the Josm Validator might be wrong.
