Hey,

I just read about the new changeset discussion feature on osm.org. On the blog post it is said that people can subscribe to a discussion and will receive an email notification if there are new discussion comments. So what about my own changesets? Do I need to subscribe to my own changesets to get notified when someone is commenting something about my changeset?

Thanks in advance!

Regards kerosin

Note: You are not automatically subscribing to old changesets that were made before the new feature (see https://github.com/openstreetmap/openstreetmap-website/issues/823)

So that was the reason there is a subscribe-button for my own changesets.

Okay, I will answer my own question to summarize some things:

  • You're automatically subscribing discussions at your own changesets since the new feature was introduced (November 2nd, 2014)

  • Currently you're not subscribing to your own changesets that were made before that date (there is a ticket on GitHub)

  • Unsubscribing and Resubscribing to my own changesets is possible

  • If you're commenting you're automatically subscribing to a discussion (although you previously may have unsubscribed)

I'm sure you are automatically subscribed to comments on your own changesets, otherwise this feature would be rather useless. To verify this I just added a comment to your latest changeset. Did you receive any mail?

And I just noted that you almost never describe your changesets. Please try to add at least a short comment about the changes you did :)

Thank you! Yes I received a notification mail. I was confused by the UI. There is a button "subscribe" for your own changesets (doesn't make sense for me if I will receive a notification anyways) and now after you commented a changeset there is a button "unsubscribe" (altough you can't unsubscribe your own changesets).

That's indeed confusing. For your own changesets there should be neither a subscribe nor a unsubscribe button in my opinion. I just created a corresponding issue: https://github.com/openstreetmap/openstreetmap-website/issues/827

Are you sure you did see a "subscribe" button for one of your newer changesets? Old changesets (older than Nov 2nd?) will have a subscribe button because your are not automatically subscribed to them, but newer changesets only should have an unsubscribe button if you are the author.
