Why not ask your question on the new OpenStreetMap Community Forum?

Hi,

are the servers for the staticmap down ?! can't get any images anymore. Yesterday there was a maintenance view. today no response.

Are there any news on what's going on and when the maintenance will be completed ?

Thanks and best regards
Torsten

You may find replacements in our docu wiki: Static_map_images

The server has been reinstalled after a crash and it is unclear how long it will take to re-install all services, or indeed who is/was responsible for running them in the first place, see also https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk-de/2014-October/109675.html . The machine in question, gauss.openstreetmap.de, was a development server and not a production machine, and many of the services had been installed by someone and then more or less forgotten …

I read through the mailinglist that the Server is currently reinstalled; I was just asking if I can point my URL to somewhere else (maybe staticmap.openstreetmap.org or something else). But nothing super important...

Thx&have a nice weekend Roland

@vec: yes, you can. Use another service as mentioned in my comment above (directly under the question).
