Hi, I would like to import existing roads to Blender, to create an OpenDS map to drive on. To make it more realistic I would like to have the elevation of the road displayed in Blender. I used JOSM to convert the gpx to osm and afterwards OSM2World to export an obj. File. But I have no clue how to add the roads elevation. My gpx files contain the elevation, but JOSM doesn't use them. I read alot about getting the height of buildings in OSM2World, but not about the road. I would be really happy if someone could help me. Thanks asked 28 Oct '14, 23:30 schraube27 aseerel4c26 ♦ |
The question has been closed for the following reason ""my question is solved" and probably not even OSM-related." by aseerel4c26 31 Oct '14, 17:07
Maybe you can have a look in the OSM wiki about SRTM. Also do a search on this FAQ site for SRTM ... answered 31 Oct '14, 14:43 stephan75 True, although the questioner says "My gpx files contain the elevation", so the additional data source SRTM would not be needed. However, the question is not fully clear to me.

Thank's for answering, I already looked for SRTM but the given elevation information is not good enough. Okay I'm sorry that the question might not be clear enough so I'm trying again: I got the gpx file containing the elevation of the points. JOSM now allows me to make a track, but the elevation information will be cut of , since it's not used or not implemented in osm files yet , I don't know. Afterwards I convert the track with OSM2World into obj. Open it with Blender to export it in Ogre to OpenDS. My own solution is to manipulate in Blender, which will be a lot of handwork what I wanted to avoid. My question now was if there is a way where I don't have to do the Blender work and just get the elevation information back on the track. For example a way to manipulate the osm file or the object file or even a Plugin that does the work. It might even be possible that it already exists but I'm just not able to find. Thanks for your help guys anyway ! answered 31 Oct '14, 15:15 schraube27 1
Doesn't sound like its related to OSM in any way. Trying to import a GPX track into blender directly seems to be more sensible than going through both JOSM and OSM2World first.

Well I think you're right. Im sorry my question is solved. I started my project with exports of osm so I used JOSM and OSM2World. Instead of thinking for a solution in Blender. First search approach now brought the fitting importer. Thanks for leading me to the right path and sorry for wasting your time. Have a nice day !
