the ID editor, does not let me open local GPX files. I can turn on the public traces. but not load up one of my own, for viewing in the editor. It used to work, but does not anymore.

Hi try to set your system a period back in time. Or try reinstalling everything all together, but its a lot of work and time.

What happens if you click on that small magnifying glass next to 'Local GPX file' right in iD? Do you get a popup to select your GPX file? Can you select a file? Can you describe in more detail, what exactly you're trying to do and where it fails?

Do you have any kind of browser plugin or security tools installed which would inhibit such activity?

What about other sites like imgur.com? Can you try to upload some image there? Does that work?

BTW: Apple/Windows/Linux/...??

For info: It worked for me but it did take a few tries on Win7 PC.

I also find it is sometimes a problem to get the trace to display by using the layer tab within iD. I have two other methods hopefully one may work for you. (a) If you have uploaded the trace to osm see your traces and click edit from there. or (b) from iD drag the trace from the file, put in on the desktop first and open iD in a small window. The former works on an android tab and the second on a Win PC.
