Does the OpenStreetMap API set a limit on the number of relations containing a member?
enWed, 21 Jul 2010 06:39:35 +0100Answer by DennisBhttps://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/372/is-there-a-limit-to-the-number-of-ways-containing-a-node/379
The Ways and Nodes are stored separate. And a third table stores the links between nodes and ways. So there is no technical limit.
DennisBWed, 21 Jul 2010 06:39:35 +0100https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/372/is-there-a-limit-to-the-number-of-ways-containing-a-node/379Answer by JohnSmithhttps://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/372/is-there-a-limit-to-the-number-of-ways-containing-a-node/378
The only limit I'm aware of is 2000 nodes per way.
JohnSmithWed, 21 Jul 2010 06:39:12 +0100https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/372/is-there-a-limit-to-the-number-of-ways-containing-a-node/378Answer by David Deanhttps://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/372/is-there-a-limit-to-the-number-of-ways-containing-a-node/374
I'm not sure, but given the data structures used in the database, there likely may not be a limit.

How many ways do you really thing should share a single node? I would think once you got past a half-dozen or so at a very complicated intersection, things would just be getting silly.

Can you think of a good reason for a large number of ways to share a single node?
David DeanWed, 21 Jul 2010 06:07:20 +0100https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/372/is-there-a-limit-to-the-number-of-ways-containing-a-node/374Comment by NE2 on NE2's questionhttps://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/372/is-there-a-limit-to-the-number-of-ways-containing-a-node#373
Yeah, it's the inverse of this question.
NE2Wed, 21 Jul 2010 05:53:14 +0100https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/372/is-there-a-limit-to-the-number-of-ways-containing-a-node#373
