I'm interested in creating a map to mark company locations across the US. Is this possible to maintain a map of personal spots, such as company locations?

I think you should take a look at http://umap.openstreetmap.fr to see whether that fulfils your needs

You should decide between two ways at least:

1) have those spots of interests added to the whole OSM database, and keep an eye on thgem by storing their OSM object ID number,

or 2) have an external dataset of your objects in geoJSON or any other geo format, and display them asa separate layer on an OSM based map.

For that purpose, have a look at the mentioned uMap or geojson.io or cartodb.com
