Hi. I've been working to clean the local trail data in Anchorage, AK github.com/codeforanchorage/Open_Trails_Anchorage

If I can get license permissions from local agencies which provided that data on their websites and the data is accurate and checked, how can I find and check with the local mapper community to see about importing the trail data? How can I move from a geojson format or another format of the trail data to OpenStreetMap? How can I handle trails with mulitple uses (equestrian, bikes, hiking)?

Is there a JSON API to retrieve the existing trail data?

Hi,

I'm an active mapper also working in Alaska. I am interested in your work and would like to follow along as you develop the methodology to implement your planned import. I tried sending you a PM though OSM's primitive message system but your username comes back "not found".

Please try to send me a message and maybe we can exchange email addresses. I am user:AlaskaDave

Thanks

AlaskaDave! I don't know how to send a comment either but I want to connect with you. My email is hthompson@codeforamerica.org.

There are a import and a US import mailing lists on which import topics are discussed.

I'm not sure whether they only discuss imports that have a complete proposal or also projects like yours that still have to start.
