I uploaded my traces from my Garmin 705, edited them in Potlatch2, connected them to other roads/trails at the nodes and they are not mappable in ridewithgps.com . The trails don't show up at some zoom levels in openstreet.org either. I've read as much as i could find and watched videos on how to do this and i cant get it to work. Here's an area i've been trying to add trails to and be able to plot and map them- https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=16/39.5743/-78.1181

Any help is appreciated!

Incidentally, it looks like you put in some "test" data--like the footway named TEST :). In general, that is frowned on, and if you do, make sure you delete it promptly.

Does ridewithgps.com make any use of OpenStreetMap data? If I look at e.g. http://ridewithgps.com/trips/1389476 all I see is a poor quality Google map. Most of the functionality of the site seems to want me to "login via facebook", so I can't really comment on the rest of it.

Yes, other maps are available- look at the dropdown box in upper left hand of the map. There's OSM, open street cycle and others. I like the OSM and openstreet cycle.

What does it use for routing? I'm guessing that it's not something based on OpenStreetMap data, and that it's just using "OSM" and "OSM Cycle" tile layers (as pictures, rather than data).

It says "@OpenStreetMap contributors" which I thought meant it uses openstreetmap data or openstreetmap cycle. I can see the new trails i have added on OSM and opencyclemap.org but cannot route them

I think that the "(c) OpenStreetMap Contributors" is just the attribution for the use of the tile layer - it doesn't say anything about what they're using for routing.

Perhaps you could suggest to them that they should use OSM data for routing, as it's better in your area?

RWGPS already appears to use (their own instance of) GraphHopper and OSM data - take a look at the response data.

@WVBRAD give BRouter web a try. It will follow your trail ok. You can also create your own routing profile preferences. You can download a gpx track to use in your Garmin.
Note that you need to press 'esc' or 'q' to disable drawing, 'd' to enable drawing

This is an external app, so please contact the developers of that app (info@ridewithgps.com) and ask them how they use OpenStreetMap data (only tiles == pictures, or also data) and if they use OSM data, how often they refresh

I've waited thinking that was the issue, but it's been two weeks. The trails show up on ridewithgps.com but are still not routable. Could it be using the internal versus external editor? I'll delete the test data ASAP

If the trails show up at some zoom levels and not at other zoom levels it just means that the tiles at some of the zoom levels have not been updated yet. Less information is rendered at zoomed out levels too so the trails will not be visible at lower zoom levels . The maps on the app you are using will have updated maps eventually so you may like to check their update policy. I would wait a day or so and check the osm again.
