I have selected an area I wish to export and clicked on the "export" button. I then get a totally blank screen nothing happening. the URL is "api" something or other. I only see this:,50.7609,6.179,50.7989

Unfortunately, depending what you actually want to do, the "export" option is almost never the correct one if you want to do something with the data. Depending on what sort of data you want, and over how big an area, you're probably better off with an extract from the main "planet" file, using something that's tailored for what you want (e.g. for use on a Garmin GPS), or using a service such as Overpass Turbo.

In fact, when you click "export" and scroll down you'll see an explanation.

Mh….I didn´t need this for an navigation device. I need a file for an graphic program. I need different areas as files. Is this also not possible. Sorry, but its a really new for me.

What to download will likely depend on what you want to load the data into. For example, if you're trying to load into Illustrator, then there a bunch of previous questions with answers explaining what you need to do.
