How do you tag decommissioned phone boxes?

1

In my area there are a lot of old phone boxes. The box is still there, sometimes the phone is still inside too, but they are non-functional. (How) should this info be added?

There are the disused namespace and the abandoned namespace.

Depending on the situation either choose the tag disused:amenity=telephone or abandoned:amenity=telephone.

If is decommissioned, an off topic answer would be to put some books into it. so it becomes amenity=library : name= used_book_exchange : old_phone_box=yes for more info Google "phone box libraries" legally the council should buy the box off BT. but as they cost a bit to remove some have been sold to the council for a £1. You will find some contacts when you Google. I have seen three in Cambridgeshire,at Upwood, Granchester and this one in Hemmingford https://www.openstreetmap.org/search?query=%2056%20-.2#map=19/52.32241/-0.11879&layers=N

That's truly excellent. Do you have any pix?- I'm very tempted to do the same with ours.
