Why not ask your question on the new OpenStreetMap Community Forum?

Here (api06.dev server link, which needs a separate account) is a test "bus stop" in the middle of the road (prompted by this question). I'd like to separate the bus stop node from the way and move it somewhere else.

I can just about manage to do it by splitting the way, "unjoining" the ways, moving them each out of the way (including the node) and then back, and then rejoining the ways, but it's a much more complicated process than either of the other editors so I'm sure that there's a simpler way to do it.

I am not sure that there is such a way. ;-) Just incidentally I looked up exactly this one hour ago in iD's shortcuts and was not successful.

D in shortcuts doesn't work for just a node in away. but it does work on a node that is a junction of two ways, THEY can be separated.
