Bus route withdrawn - is there a method to delete the relation completely?

Rather than go all along the route deleting the bus route tag, is there a way I can delete the relation which references the route - I assume that by deleting the relation, the route would disappear form the map?

Your edit history suggests you're using Potlatch 2, so:

select a road which is part of the relation
switch to Advanced tag view
on the left, click the little dropdown arrow next to the relation entry
select "Delete entire relation" from the menu
