I see blue outlines on everything, is that normal? Makes it very difficult to read the map

Assuming you're referring to the map at Openstreetmap.org (you didn't specify), it sounds like you might have the "Map Data" layer enabled. Click the Layers button (looks like a stack of paper) at the right side of the map display, and then untick "Map Data".
