Need step by step instructions on how to load a small part of Florida to my Garmin Montana 650 GPS? Have a window 8 pc. Received data from OSM, but don't know what to do with them. I am very inexperienced and would appreciate any help. Thanks!

You could either go to http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl to select the rectangles that you need. Then you get an email with a link where you can download the requested files. The gmapsupp.img file can be copied directly to your Garmin device. Or to an SD-card that you put in your device An alternative is http://extract.bbbike.org/ . There you can specify a free form area for which you can download a garmin specific file. Some more elaborate instructions can be found http://extract.bbbike.org/extract.html Make sure you download a gmapsupp.img file for Garmin that can be placed directly on the device. There are other sites that make maps based on OSM for Garmin devices: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OSM_Map_On_Garmin That page also contains some more information on installing maps based on OSM on your Garmin device. success ! answered 27 Jun '14, 10:55 escada |
