I thought I was just adding a few footpaths, but as a result the River Alver seems to have burst its banks quite spectacularly. Can anyone tell me what has gone wrong and how to fix it?

N.B. It looks fine in Potlatch 2, but the rendering on the above website shows the blue colour of water on the land.

Someone's broken the coastline somewhere I guess - see also https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk/2014-June/070037.html .

I am also seeing the whole of the UK turn blue in my location.

Highley, Alveley and Upper Arley also down the gurgler

Thanks to the several people who pointed out that the real problem is likely to be an error in the mapping of the coastline, unconnected with my edit and possibly a long way away. I added some footpaths to the map, and I then saw that, as the edited tiles were re-rendered, the land appeared coloured blue. I therefore assumed that my edit had caused the incorrect rendering, but it seems that I was wrong.

Possible, likely cause: Someone has broken the coastline somewhere.

The problem is solved (by someone fixing whatever) since at latest 2014-06-18 06:56:14 UTC. Both sample locations reported in this question look good to me, now. See the mailing list thread.

If there are still "flooded" areas somewhere just wait longer or use /dirty. You may also simply see an older cached vesion of the map part due to your browser's cache, so refresh your cache by reloading the map page with ctrl+F5 keys.
