I like thousands of others own a drone. The most popular is the DJI Phantom. It can be used to take digital photographs of the landscape. Most pilots like to fly at altitudes below 120m. It occurs to me that there could be many pilots who would be prepared to use their drone to take images of their local area and submit them free of charge for use by the Openstreetmap project. Would there be any interest or use in this?

Just throwing in some info: unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Others here may provide a real "answer". Thanks for your willingness to help! :-)

Several active OSM contributors have used unmanned aerial vehicles for imagery acquisition (notably kites by balrog-kun, and a quadcopter by ToeBee). MapBox have also demonstrated use of drones to acquire imagery.

should do a deal with it's an open source drone software company for processing images and creating 3d images of landscapes. Since most drones have a GPS unit seems that the public, if they are using drones, should be able to lay these images over existing GPS coordinates to have more up to date imagery of locations.

@theboman please stop spamming every possible channel with the same information, we know that ODM exists since years and anybody interested in the topic has kept an eye on it.
