An unclassified local road near me in the UK changes its name about half way along but the whole length has been given just one of the two names. I can see how to change the name of the whole length but how do I change just part of it and mark where the change takes place? asked 20 May '14, 22:16 emjayh aseerel4c26 ♦ |

Hi, I see you use Potlatch as your main editor so here are the relevant instructions... Select way. Click to add new node at point where name changes. Click to select that node. Click on 'scissors' symbol at bottom right of screen to split way. Select section of way to be re-named. Edit name. Save changes. Hope this helps. Graham :) answered 20 May '14, 22:55 NZGraham well, the last editor (the return edit after two years- welcome back!) was iD (I had checked this before). ;-) I have made clear in the linked question title that it is only about iD (however, the concept is easily transferable to other editors and other relevant questions are linked there. We do not need to answer each question several times, makes updating harder and consumes time).

Please see questions tagged with "split". E.g add-name-on-an-existing-road-which-changes-its-name-how-do-i-devide-the-road-in-2-sections (for other editors except iD, see my comment from "15 Jan, 23:40" there). Anything special with your question or clear now (you can login and then use "add a comment" to reply)? answered 20 May '14, 22:52 aseerel4c26 ♦ 1
Thanks for the links - I had tried a search but didn't use 'split' which is why I didn't find the right answers. Job done now, thanks.
