Can you provide more details about your problem? The code in the example you mention in the first point I cut and pasted into a new web page and it seems to work fine - I uploaded it to http://www.loach.me.uk/osm/googletest.htm but it also worked on my local drive.

Incidentally, have you also seen the OpenLayers alternative example in case that is of use? http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Openlayers_POI_layer_example (and other examples in the same category) I played with that here: http://www.loach.me.uk/tendringcamra/ (I realise it doesn't display correctly at present, but the data displayed is also outdated)

An answer to your orginal question (in the title) is there :

The simplest way to get a marker is to click 'permalink', then modify lat and lon to mlat and mlon respectively. If you want the marker to appear in a specific position without knowing the exact coordinates, simply double-click a point on the map. The map will be zoomed in to that point and the point will be centered.

The content of your question seems to not concern OSM.
