Is it possible load the OpenStreetMap on a Garmin nüvi 42? If it's possible where can I find the map to download and copy to the GPS device?

Thank you!

If you search here for Nuvi you'll find lots of similar previous questions. Do the answers to those help?

In short, yes! You need to do a few things. First you create an .osm file. See eg. Download.geofabrik.De for the area you are interested in. Then use a software like mapuploader to create the gmapsupp.IMG file. This you copy into the Nuvi`s map directory a (or use the garmin Mapinstall software to copy this file).

Generating own maps is way to complicated for the average user. Especially since there are already many pre-generated OSM maps for Garmin available.
