For more than two years, I did not use JOSM and so I did not upload anything.

Now, the password no longer works. However, according to wiki, it is always the same password as, for example, for http://forum.openstreetmap.org - and here it works fine!

So - what can I do?

This question is marked "community wiki".

Just to check a couple of obvious things:

You're using a rcent version of JOSM?

The "use the default OSM server" box is ticked in preferences?

"Use basic authentication" is set?

(assuming you don't need to use a proxy) proxy settings are set to "no proxy"?

Sure that you use the password and not OAuth? If OAuth: The OAuth permission might be invalid in the meantime (whyever). Make a new one. See your osm.org user account settings.

Problem resolved. Login now works fine. Cause for the problem in the morning is unknown. Case may be closed.
