Some days ago I made some changes to the lake Lundevannet in Norway using Bing aerial to make the borders of the lake more correct. Somehow now the lake is rendered white and I need some experienced user to restore the status of the lake to what it was before those changes. asked 24 Mar '14, 07:00 Honning |
It appears that the lake consisted of one circular "way" and you split it into three ways. None of the three forms a complete circle, so none are colored blue as water. I just fixed this by creating a "multipolygon" including all three ways. Since together they form a complete circle, the multipolygon as a whole is colored blue. answered 24 Mar '14, 07:10 eric22 Thanks for your help!! How could I have added more precision to the lake borders without splitting the way?

It might depend on which editor you are using. You seem to be using Potlatch 2 which says "Shift-click way to insert node". So you can make lots of new nodes in your way, to allow extra precision.

I use P2. Is your comment also valid for adding precision to other elements as roads, paths etc? And where can I read more about it?

Yes, it's valid for any "way". In P2, at the bottom of the screen, there is a line which says the shortcuts you can use. Click on a way and it will display different shortcuts (the ones which are appropriate for each situation).

Eric, please watch out for the 2000 nodes limit editing such a large way. If you cross that number you won’t be able to save your work and delete some nodes by using the undo button until you’re able to save it. You’ll end up splitting the lakeshore into several ways again. So it’s easier to leave it into three different ways now.

Hendrik, the relation currently consists of three ways. One has 32 nodes, another one has 517 nodes and the third one has 617 nodes. Each of them is well below the 2000 nodes limit.
