You are developing a android application? Then you question is not clear to me. What is your problem? Please describe what you want to do and why you can't do it.

I do not see how anybody should be able to help you, sorry. We do not know what format and how your application can import a .osm file.

It would help if you could provide a bit of information about exactly what you're trying to do and what you're familiar with (e.g. Are you familiar with Android development? Are you trying to use Android Java, Phonegap or something like Xamarin?).

First things first, a ".osm" file is just XML - there's nothing magical about the format. See the "Elements" wiki page for details about the items inside it. If you want more information, I'd have a read of the Beginners' Guide since that contains other useful information. For development, some of the software linked from the main Android page may be useful (some of it's licensed in a way that might be usable by you). "Osmand" is one example that has a thriving community of developers and users, but there are others too. If you want a drop-in MapView replacement, consider Osmdroid.

If "familiar with Android" means Android Java, and you've used MapView there, then I'd definitely have a look at Osmdroid.

Also have a look at http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Mapsforge ... but don't use old 0.3 version ... 0.4 or even newer is freshly released ... see mapsforge googlegroup
