I'm trying to view my traces on a map but can not seem to get the traces to show. I've chosen edit and then ID as the editor, but still nothing. I'm working on an IPad, is this part of the problem?

Welcome to OSM, aaronal! :-)

Where are your traces now? Did you upload them to OSM? Do you saved them on the ipad? What do you mean by "show" or "view"? Does the question absolutely-new-user-how-do-i-get-traces-to-show-on-map help?

... and it's worth noting that (as can be seen in that screenshot) iD supports locally GPX files too.

Hi and welcome to OSM :)

You need to upload your GPS tracks via the webinterface and wait till they are processed and added to our global tracks database.

You already uploaded them and they are available: http://www.openstreetmap.org/user/aaronal/traces Then you start the iD editor for the covered area that is embedded in the website (press edit) and enable "OSM GPS traces" at the right layer menu.

@iii do you know how often this gps tile layer is refreshed? May take longer than the gps trace import.

My recollection (based on the discussions of it over on GitHub) are that tile layer refresh is intended to be pretty quick - minutes rather than longer.

Do be aware though that:

1) only public traces are visible (the three "identifiable" ones of yours should be OK).

2) You won't see GPS waypoints in iD; you'll need to use Potlatch 2 for that (I notice that at least one of your traces has a lot of waypoints in it)
