In the township of Wandan, PingDong County, Taiwan there is a mud volcano.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mud_volcano

The area in question is a composite volcano ie. an area of raised topography with ephemeral vents. The periodicity of this volcano is approximately annual and the vents are usually filled in after each eruption. Are there any special tags I should be add to distinguish it from a conventional volcano?

It comes down to

  • natural=geyser or natural=mud
  • volcano=yes
  • name=John Doe geyser/spring
  • tourism=attraction
  • and even add temperature of the volcano some are hot and others cold or colorful.

Look here as well http://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=15/44.5531/-110.8093 its Yellowstone National Park, take a look around, there several green dots, each stands for a volcano or geyser and this area has mud volcano’s as well http://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=14/44.6228/-110.4410.

All very helpful and many thanks. A noob question here: How do I drop a green dot on the location?

@plotch: please ask this (unrelated thing) as a new question if you cannot find an answer in the old questions. Mention which editor you are using.
