I just downloaded the Eurovelo xml files to Garmin810 Edge. Will this provide the full navigation elements? What is the difference between XML and GPX.

Perhaps you could explain what the "Eurovelo xml" files are and where you downloaded them from? There may be people familiar with Garmin cycle GPSs (of which I'm not one) that might not know.

You can probably ask this question better at the eurovelo forum: http://www.eurovelo.org/forums/

If you got it from http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/WikiProject_Europe/EuroVelo then it wont help you at all. Those xml files only show some osm tags and relation numbers. On http://cycling.waymarkedtrails.org you can download gpx tracks but the longer the route, the more fragmented and unsorted those tracks are, and of limited use for your Garmin.
