I need a map where i can see couple of places that i named into the map (dots). After the dots are visible i would like to be able to attatch this map to word document. How can I make my dots visible also from further away perspective and how can I transfer the map into the form that can be attatched to Microsoft word document or can I? asked 25 Jan '14, 12:55 anraudas aseerel4c26 ♦ |
The easyest way is probably to export the rendered map as a png image by clicking on the share button on the right hand side, then add your dots using your favorite image manipulation program, and then import the image into your word document. Don't forget to attribute OSM somewhere in your document if it is going to be distributed to anybody. answered 25 Jan '14, 13:21 Vincent de P... ♦ I tried to download a map as a image using this Share button. It does not download a real map, only some dizzy pixels. I tried different formats like PNG and JPG. If i cant make this happen, is it possible to just use print screen button of my computer and download the map this way? Do I violate some instructions this way (copyrights). So it is allowed to edit the picture after downloading it and use and share and bublicate it as long as you tell that the original map was from openstreetmap.org?

Now when I logged in I was able to download the map. Is it impossible to download the map in biking view -> That you can see contour lines? Without these it is quite impossible to add my points there afterwards.

For copyright details please see osm.org/copyright. If you respect those guideline you are welcome to edit and distribute the new map. Note that those are valid only for the Standard view (and generally for the base data). The other layers may have different terms (e.g. for the cycling layer see about map tiles there). A side note: Please focus on one problem – using in word – in this question thread.

With the "share button" on osm.org you can only export the Standard layer. Other questions on this help site cover how to export other layers (screenshotting is a option!).

You may also add the dots and text directly in word (add circle drawing objects on top of the map).

Using a WIN7 PC I can use the snipping tool to grab enough map and the OSM logo and/or the OpenStreetMap contributors label from the bottom right hand corner. the pen tool can be used to circle the points then a right click will give the option to copy, do this, then close programs. Open Word then paste the map into it. answered 25 Jan '14, 23:39 andy mackey aseerel4c26 ♦ |
