Obrigado.

Roughly (thanks G):

In the majority of cases, when I'm following a route in my GPS, the "text to speech" function (Raquel) isn't saying anything for a long time, even through several streets. How do I decrease this interval, so that the TTS says the name of each street as I get to it? What would be the procedure of editing OSM? Thank you.

There are a number of possible reasons. Perhaps the streets don't have names yet in OSM, or perhaps there's a particular problem with the TTS not being able to say some (Portuguese) phrases. In order to be able to help, could you let us know roughly what area (i.e. which city) you're trying to route through, what GPS you are using and where you downloaded the OSM data or map from?

Baixei o mapa deste site: "mapas.alternativaslibres.es/descargas.php". Obrigado.

That's roughly here. The main roads near there do have names, but many of the smaller roads do not (see here for example). The date against the main "Brasil" maps on the download site that you are using is 04/12/13, so they should contain recent OSM data. I have a slighly different Garmin Nuvi, but for me (TTS in English) it does say the name of each new street.

In order to help adding in some of the missing street names, I'd start by reading the beginners' guide to OSM.

(below, in English)

I believe that the problem is not related to the OSM data, except in the case when the street names are missing (a very common problem, supposing that you're in Brazil, since you asked in portuguese...). Some GPS unit software's do not update the user via the TTS except when the name of the street currently in changes, or when entering/exiting some way. For example, it is possible to travel many kilometers in a highway without hearing anything. Anyway, this is related to the GPS software used and not to the OSM data.

In the end, there is nothing to do from the point of view of OSM's data, except maybe adding the missing street names.
