I would like to know how I should tag a market hall.

You can tag that as amenity=marketplace + building=yes.

You can also tag the name and the opening hours etc. See amenity=marketplace

Thanks for pointing this out to me. I have made the description in the wiki a little bit clearer and I have also set a redirect from "market hall" to that tag description.

Good question

Hötorgshallen in Stockholm has been tagged as:

shop=deli
description=Basement fish and food market with eating place
note=What is this?

That is not a good tag, but actually a good description of what it is.
