Why not ask your question on the new OpenStreetMap Community Forum?

Why are the (zoom) buttons on the right upper corner at the start of OSM. And change to the left corner while starting an editor ? IMHO its inconvenient, is someone able to change the starting menu and move the buttons over to the left side ?

Well, it depends on the editor - P2 has zoom buttons at the left, iD at the right. Unsurprisingly, the front screen of OSM looks like the iD screen because they were both written by some of the same people.
