There is some "help" available within the iD editor (the icon that looks like a retro "save" 3.5" diskette on the right), but how do I search it? asked 28 Oct '13, 10:15 SomeoneElse ♦ closed 28 Oct '13, 12:56 |
The question has been closed for the following reason “Duplicate Question. I’d forgotten that I’d asked https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/23756/ previously. D’oh.” by SomeoneElse 28 Oct ‘13, 12:56
One Answer:
Well, you can search each help page with your browser's search-in-page function. If you want to have all help on one page, there is that other old question: id-is-it-possible-to-access-the-help-text-outside-the-editor. Then you can, again, use the browser's search-in-page function. answered 28 Oct '13, 12:22 aseerel4c26 ♦ That doesn't actually work. Try searching in-page on that Github page for "GPS" and you'll see the effect. Github displays the page with a scroll bar on the right and one off the bottom of the screen, so you can't use it to actually read the text. (28 Oct '13, 12:47) SomeoneElse ♦ 1 @SomeoneElse: ah, yes. I can scroll with cursor keys there. The raw (a button on top of the page) text is better. I made an update at the older question. (28 Oct '13, 13:29) aseerel4c26 ♦ |
what is "search the help"? Search text inside the help?
"search the help" means I might want to look for instances of a particular word within the online help. I know what I want help about, but iD doesn't - I have to read through all the different pages to find out if there's something relevant to what I'm looking for.
