landuse=grass or maybe landuse=recreation_ground sounds about right to me. Either way I'd probably add access=private and possibly some tag (operator?) that relates it to the school if it isn't already within an amenity=school polygon. answered 05 Feb '11, 11:34  EdLoach ♦ |

If, as you say, it's attached to the school then just extend the amenity=school polygon to cover the playing field too. answered 21 Feb '11, 18:52  fluteflute |
Thanks for replying Ed. I'll leave it as landuse=grass and add the access=private tag as you suggest.
So this is yet another problem with the landuse/landcover thingy.. I mean it's both recreation_ground and grass.
Consider also leisure=park, access=private.
