How do I create a routable USA hiking trails transparent layer for Garmin?

2

The best description I've found so far is by SK53 here: https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/22525/how-can-i-put-a-national-cycletrail-from-osm-as-a-transparent-layer-on-my-garmin

So my guess at this point is I need something equivalent to this cycle map set of scripts but for hiking trails, located here: http://svn.openstreetmap.org/applications/utils/export/garmincyclemap/network/

Now that I've contributed to OSM by inputting 30 miles of the Florida Trail from my GPS traces I want to move on to create useful items for people to use. Thanks in advance.

Hello all. I tried dumb luck my results are null. 1) I downloaded florida.osm.pdf from - download.geofabrik.de/north-america.html 2) ran splitter and followed SK53

result... In base camp it just looks like a big rectangle over Florida, no lines/points, 1 mi zoom On my GPS (Oregon 450) it is just a transparent rectangle (disable all maps, see outline)

Either. 1) I screwed something up or 2)there is no ncn (national cycle network) in Florida. Neither option really helps me learn the process.

Ref: my area has - East Coast Greenway (super) an ncn (1774795) see on cycling.waymarkedtrails.org
