There appears to be only one golf tag but this place is not a golf course, it is a driving range. Thanks, Jase

Sorry, I should have beer more clear, I did actually find that tag in the list, How do you actually apply that tag to a point in iD or P2? I either can't find it (iD and P2 simple interface) or if I manually enter it (P2 advanced) I get

Not recognised Try looking at the tags under the advanced properties

@jaseiny - "Not recognised" doesn't necessarily mean "wrong", it just means that Potlatch 2's simple mode isn't already aware of it.

You can get to a similar "advanced mode" in iD by clicking the triangle to the left of "all tags" and entering keys and values there.

As SK53 says, you can use "taginfo" to see if a particular tag has been used before.

That works! Pretty complicated/non-intuitive though. I already commented on the need for more comprehensive newbie docs, I am planning on continuing to try and ask question but I can see why so many people create accounts and never actually edit. Thanks for your help! I'm enjoying being a part of such an enthusiastic community.

Very simply use golf=driving_range, this is used 243 times.

Don't expect this to render on the main mapnik style. It may be shown on OSM France tiles.

(Unfortunately golf courses seem to encourage tagging for the renderer, despite existence of sensible tags and rendering for a couple of years.)
