In Leeds, UK, there's a part of the River Aire which goes under the Leeds Armley Industrial Museum. The Aire is represented by a polygon.

How should this be mapped? Currently, I've got a multipolygon which the building is placed upon. But how do I map the actual course of the river? I placed that on the map, but it's visible under the building which doesn't look right. I've also got the same problem near the service road which enters the building.

Is there ground between the building and the waterway?

@tordanik yes, a small amount on one side

hi make a stretch waterway = drain with tunnel = yes + layer -1. But if the river is wide and the wiki says http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:waterway%3D canal instead of drain. IMHO I would ad covered = yes since the building is over the waterway and add layer = 1 to the building.
