I want to export in one or another of the format options (.png, pdf etc), but these have suddenly disappeared – why is that? I can export, but only as a default .osm. I have exported many times , varied the area, scale and format, but never had this problem before.

Formats other than .osm can be found inside the share menu at the new sidebar on the right (currently PNG, JPEG, SVG and PDF).

Damn... I spent three hours of figuring out installing QGIS and some plugins on my Mac while thinking Openstreetmap ceased to support SVG export when the option disappeared. I would not imagine such a feature could migrate to Share button :D
