I'm preparing walking routes and would like clarity about the licencing of OSM data. I've checked checked out the info on licences but don't fully understand the position. I plan to develop a walking route and document it in the form of a write up plus a map (based on OSM data). This document could be: (i) placed on the web for anyone to download at any time for free (ii) included with others in a booklet which would offered for sale I guess that (i) is acceptable under the OSM licence (is that right?), and am not sure about (ii). Any explanation welcome! But if I've missed something that's already on the site somewhere - apologies, and please point me at it. Thanks in advance. asked 24 Jul '13, 14:54 PeterRTW |
If you search for "license" with the search box above you'll see about 50 other license-related questions. The short answer is that selling OSM-derived products is certainly allowed as long as you make clear where the data comes from, and you might have to make some of your data available for free. answered 24 Jul '13, 15:14 Frederik Ramm ♦ many thanks - this clarification is very helpful - best - Peter
