Hello: I came across this area, showing tons of points with no designation whatsoever. Can someone figure out what is going on>? Thank you http://www.openstreetmap.org/edit?editor=id&lat=38.593726&lon=-77.30567&zoom=17

I am not sure if this zoom level will show them, so adjust yours until they show up.

They seem to be leftovers from the TIGER import (see the history of one of these nodes) and can be removed. The removal process is probably the most easiest when using JOSM as editor by searching for type:node untagged -child.

In addition to Tiger leftovers, there are still some post-redaction leftovers in some places (user A didn't agree to the licence change and their tags are removed, but user B did and moved the node).

"Empty" nodes of this sort may be helpful with spotting redacted and not re-mapped items.
