hi wich editor do you use, P2, JOSM or ID ? P2 just add a node and use the advance menu. JOSM add fi man made = marker/cross if the summit has it and use the advanced menu. In advanced youre able to add anything according to the wiki, http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:summit:cross%3Dyes

The wiki page on summits is Tag:natural=peak It gives details of other associated tags such as name, elevation, survey points, cains etc
