Why not ask your question on the new OpenStreetMap Community Forum?

It would be great to be able to do this and then embed it into our website..is this possible?

Have a look at the OSM wiki about Openlayers_Track_example

Maybe that example is a bit outdated, because development of OpenLayers has been a lot.

Generally have a look at openlayers.org ... or at leafletjs.org

On both webpages there are examples how to display any kinds of items on a map.
