I'm pretty sure there is no airport near Edenbridge, Kent, UK - http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=51.18744&lon=0.04521&zoom=15&layers=M - I've looked through the history but I can't seem to find any reference to them.

EDIT:

I've updated the surface tags to unpaved to make clear that they aren't a misplaced airport for the next person who falls across them.

The best thing to do is to contact the mapper who added them in the first place to find out why they did it. It may be that there really is an airstrip in that place, and it's just not obvious unless you know what to look for.

You certainly shouldn't delete things that you don't know for certain are wrong. I've had some of my mapping deleted by people who, for instance, didn't believe there could be a 100m long dead-end footpath off a primary road, yet there really is one. Communication is the key to everything in OSM, and that's the best way of solving this issue.

This photo suggests it might exist - http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1867655 (if I've found the correct location).

Viewing the area on Surrey Aerial images within Potlatch does show a set of marks on the ground consistent with aviation. A further search on Tandridge District council's website came up with http://planning.tandridge.gov.uk/eaccess/localviewappnumbersearchresults.asp?appno=2005/1855 . Thus the OSM data is correct.

There are also fairly clear cropmarks visible on the Bing imagery. A ground survey would be needed to find out how much use the "runways" and "taxiways" get now - but the good news is that it looks like a number of footpaths cross the area.

hi Ian you or ecatmur found an (former?) strip, look at this correspondence out of 2008, hi Iceman I did ring Rushett farm last week and was told that the hangars are full of non-aviation stuff. I wasn't offered outside parking but my understanding is that it is not a secure area. It would be fantastically convenient though. I don't suppose anyone knows of the ownership of the strip to the East of the A22 by Caterham ( down Tillingdown Lane) or the strip at East Haxsted, just to the W of Eenbridge. 5 years ago so youll have to do a local survey to ensure it.
